Italian Motorcycle National Gathering

Media Release May 2011- Released by Glynis Coetzee IMOC Chairman

WHAT:  1st National "Gathering" of Italian Motorcycles

WHEN : Friday 20 to 22 May 2011

WHERE: NA Smit Resort Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa

All Italian Motorcycle enthusiasts are welcome to attend the first National Gathering of Italian Motorcycles & riders, at the NA Smit resort in Oudtshoorn over the weekend of the 20 to 22 May 2011. This is not a club-specific event and is being organised independently of the Italian Motorcycle Owners Club (www.imoc.co.za), although all IMOC members and anyone else with an Italian motorcycle countrywide are welcome to attend.

The event itself is FREE - there is no entry fee. However, their own accommodation cost & the Saturday braai at the resort is to the account of those attending. There are a number of fun events planned for the weekend including several out rides...or attendees can just chill and chat to fellow Italian motorcycle riders and enthusiasts.

The idea of the event is based on the ‘gathering of the families’, alluding to the Italian tradition of big family gatherings. The ‘family’ in this case being the families of Italian motorcycle marques such as Moto Guzzi, Ducati, Aprilia, Laverda, MV Agusta and others. “We would love to see every Italian motorcycle in South Africa eventually attend this annual event” says organiser Ian Tichart. Ian, based in Cape Town and a long-time member of IMOC, has a passion for all things motorcycle, and for Italian motorcycles in particular. He recently bought a Moto Guzzi Griso 8V 1200 which arrived directly from the Italian factory on the shores of Lake Como.

So whatever you are riding, as long as it’s Italian, make sure you make your way along the various interesting on and off-road riding routes to the NA Smit Resort in Oudtshoorn for the first National ‘Gathering’.

All bookings for accommodation & the Saturday evening Braai must be made DIRECTLY with the resort Tel: +27 44 272 2313 or email manager@nasmit.co.za Book as "Italian Motorcycle Weekend"  For info on the event itself or SPONSORSHIP opportunities, email thegathering@eversonscider.com The backup vehicle from Cape Town sponsored by Everson's Cider - www.eversonscider.com Support Bikerz Gazette www.bikerzgazette.co.za - the "by the bikers for the bikers" magazine
