The Italian Motorcycle Owner's Club of Cape Town's inauguration is reckoned to date from a run held on the evening of 23rd February 1981, in Cape Town, from the Rhodes Memorial parking area to the Kommetjie Hotel.
The Club has had a variety of meeting venues, from the Glendower Hotel in Mowbray, the Claremont Hotel, the River Club in Observatory, the Keg & Coach, Diep River, the Tafelberg Tavern in Cape Town and others. At present the meeting place is at the Crankhandle Club so contact the Club for information on the next meeting venue.
There are many Italian Motorcycle Owner's Clubs around the world, such as IMOC UK an IMOC in Australia. At the moment the Cape Town chapter of IMOC is the most strongly represented in South Africa and for all intents and purposes acts as the Italian Motorcycle Owners Club of South Africa. Although these clubs share passion a for all motorcycles Italian, the clubs are operated totally separately and independently of each other.
Over the last 27 years, IMOC Cape Town and the members have been active in many motorcycling events, shows, exhibitions, runs and
rallies in South Africa and certain of the motorcycle members (both in the past, and currently) participate in local, regional and national racing.
IMOC would like to widen the interest and enjoyment of Italian Motorcycles
specifically and motorcycling in general
